The Great Guru

There are several gurus in our life. Some may teach us, some may guide us, some come along with us. But I feel the best guru is one who teaches what not to do. If you take this yardstick, I feel the real guru in the recent times is one Central Minister attached to Prime Minister's office who hails from Puduchery. Recently there were some protest in the Koodangulam Atomic power plant. Some people opposed it and conducted lot of meetings, strikes, agitations etc. If left as it is it, would have died a natural death. Suddenly this man emerged from Delhi one day and announced that the people against the setting of the plant are getting crores of foreign money and blabbered lot of unwanted things. The protests which was going on silently gained momentum. The protests become big, they started to picket the plant and now it has come to a position which shows that it would not end easily. Kudos to the Minister who actually helped the protestors. The same minister, this time the subject is different. This time it was the ISRO fiasco. The minister threatened that he would take strict action against the ISRO scientists if they talk against the Indian Government. The minister thought that the scientists are ordinary clerks working in his ministry who would worry if some action is taken against them. The scientists are world class and if they opt for NASA or for some foreign organisations, they would make millions. But out of sheer patriotism, they work for ISRO and build satellites. The Minister instead of appeasing them actually antagonized them. There is a tamil proverb which says Summa Kidantha Sankai Oothi Keduthan.
